Pro Audio On Linux
Recently, I wrote a post, “Production Studio: Linux Might Be The Answer”, where I talked briefly about my 25 year journey with computer based music production and my recent decision to abandon it for a non-computer based setup (cassette and reel-to-reel) followed by my discovery that Linux might be the answer to all of my computer problem; audio product now included. With that post, I decided to dedicate a portion of Project Alphabet Soup to my music production studio as it relates to Linux.
Below you will find a list of the current important equipment and software that forms the foundation of my production studio and how I’ve setup, configured, and troubleshooted Linux and Linux dependency programs to make the studio run the way that I want it to.
There will also be blog posts related to this as I discover new things about audio production on Linux. What this will not be is a how to page for how to make create music and work outboard equipment (drum machines, samplers, analog mixers, etc.).
